This year marks the 28th anniversary of Earth Day, the only event celebrated simultaneously around the globe. We at Garlock Sealing Technologies join the more than 500 million people in observing this momentous occasion.

The extensive environmental and conservation measures in our current five-year, $30 million plant modernization project underscore our commitment to providing products that are safe in and of themselves and offer our customers cost-effective compliance solutions.

Our new facilities feature a host of conservation features, including the use of water from a nearby lake for comfort and process cooling, closed-loop process equipment that saves up to 20,000 gallons of water per day, more energy-efficient buildings, increased green space to reduce runoff and many others. In addition, we are now using a more environmentally friendly material in our gaskets, a move that not only eliminated 120 tons of air emissions, but actually improved the production process.

The Rochester(NY) Business Journal recently honored Garlock with its Environmental Innovation Award, citing our “demonstrated commitment to having a positive impact on environmental issues”. While we are proud of the recognition, we realize that environmentalism is a process of continuous improvement. Much has been done, and much more remains to be done.
